Summary: Resistance heat is obtained by passing a safe, low voltage, high amperage current through a resistive alloy. As with all Resistance Soldering Reflow-type Handpieces, heat is generated within the element, because of the metal alloys inherent resistance properties. Current is present for only so long as power is applied to the handpiece. The closed loop elements provide a path for the current from the Power unit, through the Handpiece and back to the Power Unit.

Description: Micro-soldering probe. This Handpiece is supplied with a replaceable element loop of .012" (.30 mm) dia. Nickel-Chromium wire. It is equipped with a four-foot highly flexible, lightweight cord with taper pin quick connect terminals, for connection to American Beauty^® Power Units (push in turning clockwise until snug). The lightweight handle is made from turned down nylon and measures 3¼" (8.26 cm) long.

• This Handpiece should not be operated above 1.2 Volts. (This equates to approximately 50% output on our 100 Watt Resistance Soldering Power Unit - Model 105A3)
• DO NOT ALLOW THE ELEMENTS TO GLOW RED.
• Maximum wattage that is shown reflects a 20-second maximum allowable heating duration. Operating handpiece beyond suggested cycle time can result in heat damage to tool.
  
  Uses: These American Beauty^® Micro-Soldering Probe Handpieces were developed to introduce intense heat into small localized areas. This tiny Handpiece heats and cools very quickly (this is always an important asset when working on miniature components) and is used to heat and reflow 1/64" to 1/32" (.40mm to .80mm) pads or .001" to .01" (.025mm to .25mm) diameter micro-balls of solder onto miniature connections. This Handpiece can be adapted to many other uses where an extremely small heat source is required.
